LPWAN (Low-power wide-area network):
A LPWAN is a form of wide area wireless telecommunication network designed for long-range communications at a low bit rate amongst connected things, such as battery operated sensors. The low bit rate creates a low-power, which differentiates LPWAN from a wireless WAN that instead connects users and businesses (in and outside of the tech industry), carries more data and therefore users more power. A LPWAN may be used to create a private network of wireless sensors, but can also be infrastructures or a service – with the sensor’s owner being able to deploy them in a field without the need for gateway technology investment.
