Today we learned Pycom has been named as Cool Vendor by Gartner in their IoT Thingification 2017 authored by Research Director Amy Teng, VP & Gartner Fellow Martin Reynolds and Research Director Bill Ray.
Anyone who has ever been involved with Gartner Inc., will know that the nomination of Cool Vendor cannot be bought for love nor money and that only the most forward thinking companies ever make it to the Cool Vendor research reports. We’ve joined the likes of our partners Adafruit (named in 2015) and Espressif (named in 2016) and a whole host of other companies many of which we admire.
We understand that there’s a formal process for nominating Cool Vendors within Gartner. In January each year, all Gartner analysts are asked to put forward nominations for up-and-coming tech companies who they consider the most disruptive in their sector. Gartner says of the research that “Cool Vendors in this research each provide unique technologies that can enable new business models with minimal investment.”
This has certainly been our aim from day one. We set out to enable developers all over the world to focus on what’s important: Inventing new value-adding Things that connect people, enterprises and cities to the internet. It’s the philosophy behind the #GOINVENT mantra that Pycom uses as the red line to all goals.
Fred said this morning that “it’s a fantastic achievement. A testimony to all the super hard work everyone at Pycom has put into making the portfolio of products and solutions happen in record time. Thinking back at this time last year when we were knee-deep in LoPy development it’s just amazing to think that Pycom is now a recognisable ‘Cool’ brand. It is also clear that we couldn’t have come this far without the support of our awesome developer community – all those developers who have been so patient and eagerly contributing great input along the way.”
We still have some way to go, but our recent nominations which also include the TechCrunch sponsored TheEuropas as “Hottest IoT Tech Company” mean the world to us and gives us energy to keep going. Those nominations recognise the value of the what Pycom brings and ultimately the people who make all that happen – the Team. Well done all!
