Asset Tracking Overview
Asset tracking consists of tracking physical assets (Things). This can be done with locally with barcode or RFID scanners scanning barcode labels, or remotely with geolocation tracking by using GPS as well as BLE, LoRa or cellular technologies. The assets, Things or people wearing a tag will broadcast their location remotely and allow users to verify a location and this can be done indoors or outdoors. Asset tracking is often combined with other forms of sensing.
Examples of asset tracking include remote patient location monitoring, pet trackers, high value Things tracking and parcel and courier logistics.
