Environmental Monitoring Overview
Environmental monitoring puts in place sensors and communications technology designed to sense an environment, characterise its conditions, measure against environmental parameters and provide data that enables decision making. Environmental sensing can be done wirelessly inside and outside, in buildings, industrial settings, farming and urban and rural environments. Most forms of IoT solutions will have environmental sensing built in with common sensors being temperature, humidity, light, air quality, and barometric pressure.
Common examples of environmental sensing include room condition sensing in buildings, industrial automation in factories, patient monitoring solutions and air quality monitoring in smart cities.
